Today, we had very important meeting at Host house.
We voted how to act on next month's Obon Festival.
Usually we had Bonsai Show and Bonsai sales at this Obon-Carnival.
But as time passes, temple's attitude changed. Temple is the one govern this important event at SFV JACC Obon Festival.
Before, SFV Bonsai Club and Temple had very cordial relationship and we appreciated each other for event as mutual benefit. Obon had Bono-dori and Bonsai Show, Ikebana-show etc...
It was truly cultural event to show art of Bonsai to the public.
I was proud of participating in this event as one of the Bonsai Club members.
But it looks like Temple side does not understand our contribution for this event.
We voted for this Bonsai Show - we should have or Not.
There were 14 voters and resulted as 13:1 for no-more-Bonsai-Show.
This Bonsai Club started over 50 years ago and up to 2014, somehow we both helped each other.
Now we decided "No" for Bonsai Show.
It was my pleasure to watch people coming to see our Bonsai display in the past. It was truly very important event to show one of nice Japanese culture.
It looks like young management team of Temple does not understand our Bonsai Club's contribution for this event. And since we do not need to beg them, we simply cancel commitment for Bonsai Show.
I believe people visiting for Obon-carnival would be disappointed once they found out that we do not have any Bonsai Exhibition. But it is OK. This event requested hard labor from all of us and to me, as treasurer it was more time consuming event. Now I can relax.
So, June Bonsai Club meeting will be changed to June 26 (4th Sunday) at the same Host House.
今日は盆栽クラブの大事な会議がHost宅でひらかれました。
結果は、選挙を行って、１３対１ で今年から SFV Obon Festval にBonsai Show を開かないと決まりました。これは今回だけでなく、将来にわたって、もう、お寺のために金を出してまで盆栽ショーを開くのは意味がないという結論です。いつもこのショーのあとの会計整理が大変なので、私にとってはありがたいことです。ただ、Festivalの観客としては、Main Event といえる盆栽ショーと生け花展がなくなれば、がっかりするだろうと思います。来年からは訪問客も激減し、お寺はどうしたことかと頭をひねることになるでしょう。しかし、覆水盆に返らず で、後の祭りです。無能なマネジメント・チームがわけもわからずに、ビジネス的にことを図ろうとすることが招いた次第だと私は思っています。
６月の会合は予定とは違って、したがって、ふつうの 第４日曜日、６月２６日 となります。集合場所はいつものHost宅です。
