On September 29, 5th Sunday, we SFV Bonsai Club members gathered at JACC parking lot voluntarily around 8:00 AM.
We were supposed to work on Pine Tree shaping, creating nice form on Black Pine Tree which we planted on August 25.
Total members gathered was 10 and we had some observer of 3 from member's relatives.
I did not do anything except taking pictures as recording secretary of this club.
We know how to make Bonsai shape, using various size Wires. But tree with this size, it was first time for me to watch shaping. Master prepared many Bamboo sticks and rope, cord, wires.
Most useful material was bamboo sticks. It was absolute necessity to shape pine branches in shape. I learned how to use Bamboo sticks to prepare shaping of branches.
And some other member sprayed insecticide (Malathion) to other pine trees.
Operation finished at around 10:30 AM.
Soft drinks were to be brought by members themselves. But president of Club brought some snacks and chief brought drinks.
2019年9月29日、第5日曜日。SFV Bonsai Club メンバーのうち有志10名がJACC パーキング場に8時前後に集合し、8月25日に苦労して植樹したBlack Pine Treeの型どりを行う作業に取り組みました。とはいえ、実質の作業者は数名で、あとのメンバーは観察することで学び、ときどき枝ぶりに対する感想を述べたりしていました。船頭多くして舟座礁するという名言がありますが、メンバーの多くは自称先生級で、いろいろ勝手なアイデアを披露していました。2時間半足らずですべては終了し、会長の奥さんが用意されたスナックなどをいただき、一応第一段階は無事終了したことを祝いました。あともう少し手入れが必要かもしれませんが、それは松の成長ぶりを見てからの話し。
すでにTrimをすまして、殺虫剤の散布が必要ということであったほかの松に対して、マスターなどが用意されたSprayをメンバーの一人が散布し、もう一人のメンバーもFront Yardの散布をすませて、すべての作業は無事終了しました。
私は例によって、何もしないで写真班、報道班として、写真を撮ることで過ごしました。初めて会った、メンバーの弟さんとの会話で、日本人強制収容所の話を聞くことができ、学ぶところがありました。
この松を配置した植木のLandscapeぶりについて、このひとの率直な感想を聞き、私と同じ意見なので安心しました。どう見てもMainの松の後ろに緑の木があるのはおかしいという話。私が見ても、どうもめちゃくちゃなLandscapeに見えるが、この設計者がChangeに反対とかで、まあ、どうしようもないとか。南カリフォルニアとはいえ、樹木の選定が目茶目茶な感じ。
次回、10月の会合は27日、第4日曜日で、チーフ宅で8時半ごろからスタート。
