また、日本からの訪問客を連れてサンタ・モニカ Pier, Beach, Mallへ行きました。
９月で天気もよくて、Malibuのほうもくっきりと見えて、Southern Californiaらしい風景が展開していました。
やはり海の景色は曇った日ではさえません。
６月は残念なことに曇っていて海の青さも見られず、すこしがっかりしましたが、９月のこの日は見事な晴天で、ひとびとも自由を楽しんでいるようでした。
６月の訪問で、どこにクルマをパークすればよいかはわかっているので、まずParking ビルの中にParkしてから、Pierのほうに向かいました。Ocean Blvdの公園にHomelessのひとたちがくつろいでいるのを見かけましたが、人も多く、まあ心配は無いだろうと思いました。しかし旅行者風の人がひとりでいるのがわかると、近寄っていく人もおり、要注意で、有名な観光のSpotにいろいろなひとがあつまるのはわかるけれど、大問題だなと思いました。
Pierには、ちゃんとPolice Carが配置されていて、ヘンな行動がおきないように気配りはされていたので、一応大勢の人が自由な散策を楽しんでいる風情でした。
ここは非常に大衆的・庶民的なPier, Beachだと思いました。
わざわざ遠くまで（Magic Mountain-Six Flag)ジェット・コースターに乗りに出かけなくても、すぐちかくに、このSanta Monica Pierで小規模ながらそれぞれを楽しめるのは子供の親としてはありがたいことだろうと思いました。そういう意味でも庶民的なパークで、成功していると感じました。
I love mountains. I love Water - Ocean, Lake, River.
Whenever I have a chance, I try to visit Ocean when I live in Los Angeles.
When we have visitors from Japan, naturally I think I have to show them Southern California living, which means visit Ocean and Mountains in addition to famous Beverly Hills and UCLA campus.
In August to September, we went to Santa Barbara & Pier, Beach. And also we visited Santa Monica Pier & Beach. And Redondo Beach. All beaches and piers have different taste.
In this Santa Monica Beach & Pier, I felt more friendlier and more public enjoyable mood abundant. I mean Taisyuuteki 大衆的. It's true that more people are enjoying inSanta Monica Pier and Beach. Six flag Magic Mountains is a little far from here. So, at Santa Monica, you can enjoy small Jet Coaster, Free-Fall, Merry-go-round, etc...
So, now I see in some Calendar photo of this Santa Monica Pier shot. City's tour management is succeeding its project with cheaper parking places and Mall, Pier, Beach walk.
Just one small or big problem is appearance of homeless people at park on Ocean Blvd. I know they are harmless but sometimes they disturb visitors and people feel uncomfortable. Some are enjoying nice breeze on the lawn. But when some tourist looks alone, some approaches and scare the visitors. This Homeless problem is big politic matter and I don't want to interfere any politics here. But this is one of negative side at Santa Monica, which was not a big issue at 1970s.
When we visited in June, it was cloudy and Malibu was not visible or under the cloud or fog. In September, this was sunny day and more people were enjoying all over the territory - pier, beaches, mall and on the road.
