After January Bonsai Club activities, I did not report February meeting.
Now with Coronavirus CODIV-19 influencing all over the world, and with people gathering restriction enforced, it is not easy to have Bonsai meeting.
Lucky to me, in February we had nice regular meeting with only 9 members.
In March because of restriction of 10 people gathering and usually we members attendance was over 10, we cancelled SFV Bonsai Club meeting on March 22. And now not only March, April also must be cancelled since government warning was extended and of course CODIV-19 is not under control as of today April 10.
We worry when we could expect normal life. Usually we spend natura lives without noticing how fragile our lives are. And it happens. I hope effective medicine invented soon and people can live without any worries as early as possible.
I think our big annual event of Bonsai Show will be cancelled since July, August Tokyo Olympic was cancelled performance in this year and planned to perform in year 2021, our San Fernando Valley Obon-Festival in the end of June will be definitely impossible to perform.
So, I am afraid of cancelling Bonsai Club meeting in April, May, June continuously., but no choice. If people dying by COVID-19 decrease in near future and we have recovery in all field, then we could enjoy Bonsai Club meeting again.
So, this is last meeting report which was made on February 23, 2020.
After this meeting, just a few members (total 4) gathered at master's house on March 19 and took care of some Bonsai purchased on February 19 at GPS(Green Products Sales) . Actually sensei took care of my 3 Bonsai as usual. Chief took care of other member's pots for Bonsai, thinking we had to take care now for Bonsai Show sales in the end of June, but now maybe no Bonsai Show this year, I don't know but it could be.
In February and this March small meeting, I brought several pots ready to put into Bonsai Pots. So, if no Show this year, it will be better to grow nicely. Always Bonsai pots need time to grow naturally and beautifully.
OK, now about February Bonsai meeting. It was fine day and total 9 members gathered but one member had to leave early because of other important meeting he had to attend. So, actually only 8 members gathered and it was fine with me. Important members, master, teacher, chief with full teaching capacity could concentrate for teaching and showing plant potting. January and February are good season in this Southern California to work on potting of plant ready.
And we enjoyed small luncheon. Though president's other family members did not attend on this meeting, Mrs. prepared snacks for this meeting as was expected and since members were only 8, we could enjoy full lunch. I thought I had better prepare some food by myself just like pot-luck party, I cooked Kabocha for this meeting. And not enough members to digest everything, I asked master to take home left over Kabocha since Kabocha was healthy food and I cooked without sugar. Kabocha has natural sweetness, so it is not necessary to add sugar.
Anyway, so February meeting was very successful and I personally enjoyed so much. 4 pots were ready for Bonsai Show sales - although now if no Obon & Bonsai Show, then no bonsai sales this year. This is good. Next year these Bonsai Pots will have better shape without question.

２０２０年2月２３日 盆栽クラブ 2月23日例会報告
コロナウイルスが世界中を席巻して全人類を恐怖の渦にたたきこんだような状況の中で、集団感染の恐れからアメリカ政府もカリフォルニア政府も10人以上の集合を禁じ、基本的に家に閉じこもって外出は控えるようにという警告を出している現在、そしていまだにこの恐ろしい病原体に対する治療方法も特効薬も生み出されていない現在、世界経済が壊滅的な状態に追い込まれているのは事実で、はやく峠を越すようにだれも望んでいるはずである。
日本でもアメリカでも会合に参加して感染しているわけで、このウイルスは発現するまでに（症候が現れるまでに) 4-5日かかるということで、感染しても気が付かずにほかの会合に参加して、ほかの人に移しているというのが実態で、当然、可能な限り家の中にいることがお互いのためということになり、これは局部的テロの危険どころか、全人類のあらゆる面にひどい影響を与えることになっている。ビジネスも経済も政治も家庭生活も大変困難な事態に至っている。はやく全人類が安心して生活できる状況が生み出されることを誰もが期待している。
そして、当然、盆栽クラブの集合は普通10人以上になるので、3月はCancelせざるを得なかったが、もちろん、この調子では4月も5月も6月も盆栽クラブの会合は無理であろう。そして毎年の行事、6月末のお盆フェスティバルもCancelになるに違いないから、その時の目玉商品ともいえるSFV Bonsai Clubの盆栽ショーならびに盆栽セールスもCancelということになるだろう。まだ、私個人の感想であるが、まあ、7月8月のオリンピックが来年に延期されたほどなので、お盆という、人が楽しんで集まる行事もCancelに違いない。そして盆栽ショーも。
2020年2月23日の盆栽クラブ会合はめずらしく10人以下の集まりとなった。9人来て、ひとり早退。8人で本当に盆栽作業にいそしみ、私は持ち込んだ４Plantと４Potsをすべて先生方に手伝っていただいて立派に鉢上げすることができた。ほかのメンバーもこの日はマスター、先生、チーフなどのベテランがかかりっきりで指導したので、本当に充実した会合となた。私はいつもの通り先生方にほとんど盆栽ポットつくりをやっていただいた。
会長夫人が欠席されたがスナックは用意され、この日は8人の会合となったので、スナックというよりも Good Luncheonをいただいたことになった。天気も良く、作業もはかどり、充実した月例会であった。私はいつも会長夫人が料理を前の日から準備されるので、申し訳なく思って、この2月の会合では私の得意の料理・カボチャの煮ものを前の日の夜、用意し、鍋いっぱいのカボチャをプラスチック容器に移して持ち込んだ。あいにく会長夫人は欠席され、8人では余るほどであったので、私はプラスチックの容器のまま、マスターに持ち帰っていただいた。ともかく、私は自分が気になっていて、やりたいと思っていたことをやれて、満足であった。メンバーが8人ほどであったのは残念。これはVoluntaryメンバーの会合だから、これでよかった。
ということで、2月の会合は今では貴重な会合であったということになる。次回、メンバーの皆さんにあえるのは７月？、８月？、9月？
いつも、次回の会合日を記すのが常であったが、この不明の状況の中で、それは不可能。私はメンバーにはE-mailで報告をしているので、また何かあれば、私がメンバーに送る 電子メールを見てもらうほかない。
