Today, December 8, 2019, we had annual Pot Luck Party at Chief's residence.
I had to visit some store to get Hot tube for Oden, so I left home early and as usual I was the first to arrive. When I was driving, it started raining heavy. And at destination house, chief already had prepared rooms ready for the party.
Around 11 AM, total members of 13, arrived and we started sharing foods each prepared for this occasion. Last night, I prepared Oden and it was not satisfactory finish, so I added one piece of Kabocha cooking. I worried when my dishes were good to taste, but it was OK.
We enjoyed delicious foods members prepared. And I could eat a lot. With members 13, foods brought in were huge and we could have take-out various dishes to home.
We enjoyed casual talk with members. There were a few small groups by table location, and each group enjoyed with cozy atmosphere. Some members brought photos printed and on smart phone. Japan in November was beautiful with fall color and especially photos of Sand Castle or Museum of Sand was impressive. It was in Tottori prefecture. We talked how Japan in country side was beautiful, everywhere from Kyushu to Tohoku.
Bonsai Club President announced December JACC ceremony and we also discussed January New Year Party. It was already clear to me to have party at chief's house same as this year or last year. We agreed to have NY Party on January 25, Saturday 1:00 PM at Chief's residence. It cost will be $30.00 each. We may bring spouse with same fee. We decided to order 25 dishes from some restaurant. This year, 2019, we had less-members than expected and I sincerely hope that many members attend as many as possible. And again we will have Door Prizes, so members voluntarily expected to donate some prizes for us to enjoy party.
In December 18 (Wednesday) at 11:00 AM (not 15 as announced previously), JACC has some ceremony and we are invited to attend since we were the ones contributed Pine Tree Transplanting from nursery in Moorpark on August and September. Maybe total of 4 members attend on this ceremony with casual cloth.
There is a some expensive JACC party (over $100) in January and a few Bonsai Club members will attend.
Next month regular meeting will be January 26, 4th Sunday, 8:30 AM, at Chief Residence, just next day after NY Party.
There were a few members who did not attend today's party. We missed them. I believe they knew today was the day of Pot Luck Party. Just by some reason, they could not attend, I believe.

今日は12月8日、盆栽クラブの忘年会・Pot Luck Partyの日であった。あいにく天気は良くなくて、私がドライブ中に雨が激しく降り出した。雨模様でParty会場もヘルプが必要かもと少し早く着いたが、すでにすべては用意されていた。
いつも盆栽作業に使うガレージにTableをならべて、各自が持参する料理を置く場所も用意されていて、私は一番に自分で昨夜用意したオデンとカボチャの煮たもの、そしておかき2種をならべた。すべての本日参加予定のメンバーが集まったのは11時過ぎであったが、それまでにそれぞれのグループに分かれて様々な話題を語り合った。日本を11月に訪問したメンバーが2組いて、ひとりはプリントした写真を沢山見せてくれ、ひとりはスマホに撮った写真、東京タワーの夜景や富士山の写真をみせてくれた。鳥取や東北の毛越寺・平泉、岡山、高山、合掌造りその他、日本の各地を3週間にわたって旅行し、エンジョイしたメンバーのたくさんの写真はプリントで見ることができ、やはり日本は美しいと確認できた。私も都会でなく日本の地方の街や自然の美しさはよくわかるので、共感できた。
メンバー13名があつまって、各自が用意した料理を皿にとって、味わった。みなとてもおいしく、私は沢山いただいた。私の料理の味も心配であったが、みなさんおいしいと言ってくださったので、ほっとした。料理はたくさん余ったので、みなそれぞれ用意した容器に入れて家に持ち帰ることになった。
Door prizesを用意ということで、何人かはそれぞれいい品を持ち寄って抽選を行った。会長夫人は盆栽に役立つ道具（はさみ、ひも）などをDonateされ、ほとんどすべての人が何か役に立つ品をいただいた。私もハサミをいただいてHappyであった。私は昨日、あれこれ探して、CD Mendelssohnの 5 Symphony Complete setやTchaikovskyのSymphony No.1,2,3の入ったCDを盆栽クラブでは場違いだと感じながら提供した。しかし、喜んでいただけたので有効利用になったと自分で満足した。
会長からは12月15日予定であったJACCによるPine tree植樹祭が18日の11時に変更されたことが確認され、その参加予定者を確かめた。水曜日なので誰でもちうわけにゆかず、4人ほどのメンバーが参加することになった。
1月の新年会については私から去年・今年同様、チーフさへ了承であれば、１月２５日 土曜日 午後1時、チーフ宅で行い、費用は30ドル（本人でも伴侶でも）、そのうち25ドルほどは料理のオーダーに、残りは会場提供への謝礼ということを伝えた。この日もDoor Prizes を行うので、Volunteerの協力が必要。
1月の例会は、NY Partyの翌日、1月2６日、第4日曜日。チーフ宅。8時半。
Pot Luck Party が無事終了してホッとした。いつも例会に参加するメンバーの何人かが出席できなかったのは残念。チーフからはG-mailアドレスをいただくことができたので、ほっとした。例会はチーフ宅で行っているので、特に連絡する情報はないが、私がメンバーに送る報告と写真をプリント・メールでなくて見てもらえることがわかって安心した次第。
食事中、夕立のような土砂降りの雨がしばらく降り続いたが、忘年会閉会のころにはきれいな青空と白雲があらわれて、いい雨であったと思った。ともかく、LAでは基本的に雨はいつでも歓迎。ただ火事に襲われた地域は雨が降ると土砂崩れなどで大変であろうと思った。
