　When my sister and her families dropped in LA again after visiting Las Vegas, my wife suggested visiting Universal Studio City Walk for evening walk & dinner.

　At around 8:30 PM, I thought many restaurants might have been closed already and I was not eager to visit. But when we arrived at parking building, there were so many cars parked at late night and in the City Walk, there were so many people of all ages walking around.

Thought we did not have time to enter Halloween Night Show, people looked like enjoying this event.  As event night, even general parking cost $17 after 3:00 PM. (If not event night, $10.00 after 3:00 PM). We arrived after 8:30 PM and stayed less than 2hours.

　I thought of my school years when I used to go to bed at 9 or 10 PM. Even when I was studying for entrance examination for high school, I always bedded in at 10 PM. Now it looks how innocent I was at that time.

　This new town in Universal Studio Hollywood is now good spot to walk casually with friends and/or with family. It reminds me of Osaka Shinsaibashi-suji. Eateries and shopping stores with a lot of neon signs.

　This is artificial town, but people looked enjoying casual walk and shopping.

　When I visited Universal Studio with friend (my future wife) in 1971, it was small but enjoyable studio. Since then periodically we visited with visitors. We thought this place was good for half day tour, but now it looks whole day is necessary to enjoy all shows and casual walking.

　いつも代わり映えの無い店を訪問客に紹介していた私に、夕食はUniversal StudioのCity walkにすればと女房が提案し、夜おそく、目的地に向かいました。８時半すぎではどうかなと思いましたが、パーキングはビルが満杯の状態。こんなにおそくてもみんな来ているのだと納得し、City walkに向かいました。老若男女、あらゆる年齢の人々が散歩とショッピングを楽しんでいる様子でした。私たちはレストランは待つ時間がかかるだろうからと、Subway　ファーストフードに決め、テーブルで周りを眺めながら、おいしくいただきました。

　ラスベガスを訪問してきた姉たちに、また夜のネオンの人工の町並みを見てもらうことになって、どうかなと思いましたが、まあそれなりに楽しんでくれホッとしました。翌日はUCLAやサンタモニカMall、Beach　などを訪れることに決めていたので、まあこれでもよいかと思った次第です。

　私と姉は（女房も）自然が大好きですが、その子供や孫の代になると必ずしも自然愛好家というわけではないようです。これは例のKonrad Lorenzの刷り込み理論（Imprinting)ー子供のころに慣れ親しんだものを終生慕うという　の証明のようなものかもしれません。

　These days, weather was hot and maybe that's why today we had small attendance.
Total 11members and 1 observer attended. It was a quiet meeting. I did not bring any Bonsai.

　At last-month's meeting, I told members that I would prepare Waiver-clause for eliminating Host House's any responsibilities on accidents and we take care ourselves by own insurance if necessary.

　Every attendees signed.
　
　Last week, I got notice from Master that we needed "Get well card" for our president, who had surgery or something. So, I prepared Card and ready to send out, but another call from Master hold card's mailing. As Master said, president attended today's meeting. So I let every member attended to sign the card.

　All done well. At luncheon meeting, everybody thanked me for preparing Waiver document.

　While everybody is busy with Bonsai, I had chance to talk senior master to whom I lent my Blog print Binder on "Psychic Science" at last month meeting. We could talk on these "Strange things'" - Ghost lights, Ghostly step sound, strange happening on accidents, precognitive notice on people's death etc... This territory - Psychic Science or Paranormal world is usually keep people silent. But when we start talking on this subject, I learned everybody had some kind of strange experiences. After I received my Blog Binder, I asked one member of any interest on this subject and I got answer "Very". I lent blog binder for 1 month and we talked about this subject. I promised to lend good books in English if truly interested.

　So, I enjoyed this casual meeting with nice members, talking not only about Bonsai but also current my concerned territory -about Psychic Science.

　Yesterday, one member called me and we talked about Psychic Science. I enjoyed talking about existence of "Soul" and "Afterlife" and Bernie Siegel M.D. and also Dr. Lawrence LeShan 's books on importance of "Will to live" shown on their great books. Doctor Bernie Siegel showed importance of "will to live" and to conquer terminal cancer.

　So, now I am spreading my some knowledge on this "Soul", "Afterlife", Consciousness", "Healing" etc... to whomever show interest.

　Next meeting will be 4th Sunday October 25 at same location on Chatsworth, taking care of  Own Bonsai.

　今日の盆栽クラブ会合は少数メンバーの出席でしたが、（トータル１２名）、大事なHost 免責事項書類サインとGet-well-Cardサインなども実行され、私は責任を果たしたという満足感をもてました。

　私は自分の盆栽を持参せず、メンバーの方何人かとブログの心霊現象の科学　プリントBinderをめぐって、話し合う機会がありました。話してみると、みなさん不思議な体験をしておられることがわかり、小林秀雄の言う”知識人の堕落”（不思議な現象がおきても、不思議と思わないで、インチキだトリックだ、ありえない　とさわぐ非科学的態度）とは逆に、不思議はおきるものだと自覚されているようで、安心しました。あまりにも科学的という態度になじんでしまった日本人の中には、科学的とはどういう態度かということを忘れてしまった知識人が多く、不思議な現象に接してもまじめに探求しようとしないで、安易に片付けてしまう人が多いからです。科学認識は基本的に、理論物理学者武谷三男が示したように、自然認識の三段階論　－－－現象論的段階ー実体論的段階ー本質論的段階と深化していくわけで、（コペルニクスーケプラーーニュートン）、（「弁証法の諸問題」ーニュートン力学の形成）、心霊現象の科学も、まず現象に興味を持って類似のケースを集めることから始まるわけです。ロンドンの心霊現象研究学会が１８８８年に出来たときにも、まず類似のケースを集めることからスタートしました。不思議とは、今の科学では説明できないというだけで、ありえないという話ではないのです。科学もあと３００年経てばStar Trekの世界が示すような、今は不可能な世界が実現していることでしょう。不思議を認め、その解明を志すところから科学はスタートするといえるでしょう。

次回、盆栽クラブは１０月２５日、第４日曜日、いつもの会場に集まります。

　So, in September, again I showed Redondo Beach to wife's cousin couples.
It was beautiful day and pier was in good condition. When I visited in June, it was under construction or on repair and we could not circle the pier on walk. This time, we could walk around the pier wherever we want to go.

　In Redondo Beach, there were big parking lots just close to Pier and so there were no vehicles on the pier. In Santa Barbara and Santa Monica Piers, some vehicles could enter the pier and could park with fee if space were available. So, in Redondo Beach, we can walk safely on the pier.

　One of my pleasures to visit this beach is taste clam chowder at eatery. This time I knew from June experience that "The Shrimp Lover" restaurant could provide reasonable, good taste seafood. We did not have enough time to eat full dinner, so it was only Clam Chowder. But it was good. Waitress remembered me and I enjoyed talking.

　６月に訪れたレドンド・ビーチ。　９月はじめに、また日本からの来客を連れて訪問しました。６月にはPierの一部が工事中で、来た道をもどらねばなりませんでしたが、今回はPierを一周できる感じでした。ビーチを底辺とするいびつな台形のようなPierに、途中で入り口に向かう道もあり、先端が飛び出している形のPierとは違った閉鎖空間を構成している特異なPierでした。

　目立ったのはKoreanのサインのかかったSeafood店がいくつもあり、以前を知っている私にはKoreanのこの地域での進出振りに感心するばかりでした。日本人がこのようなFisheryを経営しているのを、この南カリフォルニアでは見たことがありません。

　今では南カリフォルニアの日系人は少数で、Minorityに属するようです。Korean, Philippino, Chinese, Vietnamese たちの人口が多くなったせいかもしれません。日本のバブル崩壊以来、日系企業も南カリフォルニアでは減少し、最盛期を知っている私には昔日の感におそわれることしばしばです。

　Recently I had a chance to visit Santa Barbara Mission and Pier again when my wife's cousin & spouse visited us. We always introduce Santa Barbara to visitors as one of Southern California's most beautiful towns with famous grand Mission building and wonderful Pier and others.

　When I visited in June, it was cloudy at Santa Barbara and my sister and niece were satisfied when we visited Solvang=Danish town with a lot of bright sun and blue sky.

　This time, Santa Barbara was beautiful with blue sky and bright sun. As usual, we brought Hana (dog) to this trip. Hana likes to walk Pier. We enjoyed nice walk, scenery and foods.

Once I toured inside of the Mission. This time, my wife guided our visitors and I stayed with Hana at the aisle of Mission.

　サンタ・バーバラは、４０年ほど昔、私の大好きな推理小説作家ロス・マクドナルドとマーガレット・ミラー夫妻が住んでいるということで訪問したいと思っていて、それは実現しませんでしたが、１９７０年代後半に最初にSanta Barbaraを訪れて以来、何度もおとずれました。

　このロス・マクドナルド夫妻が列車でサンタ・バーバラ周辺を通っていたとき、車窓からの風景に感動した二人が、ここに住みたいと思い、それを実行したのは有名な話です。そのとき、マーガレットはギリシャ語原本のツキュヂデスを読んでいたというのも、よく知られた話です。

　ともかく、ここは明るく洗練された雰囲気にあふれる素晴らしいところだと思います。

　今年２０１５年６月に訪れたときは曇っていましたが、８月末に再訪したときは、よい天気で海も山もきれいでした。そして地元のArtistが作品を陳列していて、その昔、３０年ほど前、２回ほどArt作品を購入して友人の結婚祝いに送ったことを思い出しました。盆栽クラブの人が盆栽を売ろうとしたら、地元のひとであるか証明しろといわれたとか。

（何年か前、ここLAで砂嵐のような天気の中、散歩中の犬の写真を撮ったりしたため、細かい砂がカメラの中にはいってしまい、レンズがにごって、きれいな写真がとれません。だんだんひどくなってきて、これではせっかくの写真が台無しです。もうすぐ買い換えなければなりません。しばらくはこのままでご容赦ください。青い空に黒いかげりがあちこちに現れています。カメラの中をCleanできないのでこの有様です。）

Santa Barbara is famous with nice, comfortable climate and beautiful sceneriessurrounded by mountains and oceans.
